Every June, for one week, Basel becomes the centre of the art world, and the conversations that happen here tend to echo for the rest of the year.
This edition carries something worth noting: Zero 10, Art Basel's global initiative dedicated to art of the digital era, debuts in Basel for the first time, having already made its mark in Miami and Hong Kong. Curated by Eli Scheinman and Trevor Paglen under the anchor theme The Condition, it marks the initiative's first co-curated edition and its largest presentation to date. For those of us who have been watching digital art find its footing within major institutions, this feels like a significant moment.
Beyond Art Basel itself, Basel Social Club also sees a remarkable presence of digital art this year, with a number of leading galleries presenting artists working across digital and computational practices. What was once peripheral now appears across multiple platforms, formats, and contexts throughout the city.
The 100 collectors team has built a week around that energy, private dinners, guided tours and more conversations with the people shaping this field.
Some of these events have only a handful of places available.
Plan ahead, respond early, and trust the agenda.
See you in Basel!
