1. About the Project
Created for NFC Lisbon, Calculated Skies is a solo project by Eko33, curated by Marlene Corbun and presented by DANAE.
A generative system gives rise to 22 works: two immersive infinity rooms and 20 unique artworks. Two outputs from the system are presented in Lisbon as large-scale lightboxes, offering a glimpse into the world unfolding within the installation.

2. What Makes It Unique
The work combines generative code, optical inquiry, and physical reflection.
Rather than producing a fixed image, the system generates an environment that shifts in real time. Light, image, and architecture continually interact as visitors move through the space.
The project draws on a long lineage of research into perception, from Euclid and Ibn al-Haytham to artists such as Yayoi Kusama and James Turrell, while introducing the open-ended logic of computational systems.

3. How the Drop Works
A single generative system takes two forms.
In total, the project consists of:
- 2 immersive generative infinity rooms
- 20 unique digital artworks (numbered 00 to 019)
- A system built using GLSL shaders
The Generative Infinity Rooms
The infinity rooms are mirrored environments where light, image, and architecture interact in real time. Two rooms are available, while two outputs from the system are presented in Lisbon as large-scale lightboxes.
The Edition
Twenty unique works extend the visual language of the installation beyond the physical space. Each artwork is available either as a digital work or as a digital work accompanied by a lightbox.

4. Why Collectors Should Care
Calculated Skies extends the artwork beyond the image and into experience.
Collectors can acquire either an immersive generative infinity room, of which two are available, or one of the unique artworks, with the option of a physical lightbox.
The result is a contemplative work where code, light, and reflection converge, inviting viewers to consider how we perceive ourselves in increasingly mediated environments.

5. Personal Recommendation
"Eko33 has spent more than twenty years working across visual art, sound, and computational systems, with work shown at Art Basel, the Seoul Museum of Art, and the Venice Biennale.
Calculated Skies distills that practice into a single immersive gesture, where technology becomes a catalyst for self-awareness."

Key Takeaways
- A generative code-based system creates the infinity rooms, with two rooms available.
- The project is built in GLSL shaders from a single codebase.
- It is rooted in a lineage of research into perception spanning from Euclid and Ibn al-Haytham to Kusama and Turrell.
- The project consists of 22 works in total: two infinity rooms and 20 unique digital artworks, each available as a digital work or digital work with a lightbox.
- It offers a contemporary meditation on reflection, perception, and the relationship between technology and experience.
