Alan Bolton

Biography

Alan Bolton is a multidisciplinary digital artist from Ireland who has recently relocated to Lisbon, Portugal. He graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology with a degree in Business & Management, majoring in digital marketing, before moving to Los Angeles to work as lead content creator for the popular YouTube channel MihranTV. After returning to Ireland in 2019, he began working as a freelance artist producing social media content across video, photography, graphic design, and 3D art, building a client list that included brands like JUST Water and Sour Strips and musicians such as Tiësto, Deadmau5, and Example. In 2020, Bolton shifted his focus to his own artistic career, selling surreal and abstract 3D artworks on platforms including MakersPlace, SuperRare, and Nifty Gateway. The following year, he developed high-profile collaborations, including music and art projects with the label Hau5trap and producer Deadmau5, as well as a one-of-a-kind collaboration with Manchester City Football Club. His dreamlike, hyper-rendered 3D compositions have been exhibited in galleries across Los Angeles, Canada, and the United Kingdom, as well as at the Beijing Contemporary Art Show in 2022. Since relocating to Lisbon, Bolton's practice has increasingly engaged with his adopted city, producing a new series inspired by Portuguese landscape and culture, and contributing a digital altar to the Lisbon Museum's traditional June celebration of Saint Anthony, the city's patron saint, for inclusion in the museum's yearly publication. His work continues to move fluidly between commercial collaboration, community-driven crypto art, and personal explorations of identity and place.
