Biography

Ben Elliot, born in 1994, is a self-taught French artist who lives and works between Paris, Morocco, and France, exploring how emerging technologies and systems shape contemporary youth culture, lifestyle, and identity. Since launching his first solo exhibition, 'tbh i dunno if i have feelings,' as a young artist in the Parisian scene, Elliot has built a practice that treats influence marketing, socioeconomic trends, and personal branding as legitimate artistic material rather than external forces to critique from a distance. In 2020, he introduced BET (Ben Elliot Token), the first personal cryptocurrency created by an artist, extending his exploration of value, identity, and self-commodification directly into the financial systems his work examines. Elliot is also known for 'My Little Friend,' an agender, non-animal, non-human character he created as a recurring figure across his digital works, and for 'Smartsuit,' a speculative 3D garment envisioning the future of wearable technology. His most ambitious project, 'Metaone,' is an expansive metaverse initiative that imagines a virtual paradise and alternative future world, presented in collaboration with the Sigg Art Foundation. Elliot's work has been recognized by institutions including the Reiffers Art Initiatives, which selected him for its 2022 prize, and he has been featured by publications such as Metal Magazine and COEVAL Magazine as one of the notable young voices reshaping how artistic careers intersect with brand-building in the digital age. Across his practice, Elliot continues to treat identity, currency, and virtual space as interconnected materials for art-making in an increasingly online world.
