Brendan Dawes is a UK-based artist born in 1966 who makes work with generative processes, data, machine learning and code. His output includes interactive installations, electronic objects, online experiences, data visualizations, motion graphics and physical sculptures, and he often explores time and memory. He describes his practice as the art of form and code. His early project Cinema Redux entered the permanent collection of MoMA in New York in 2008. His recent work includes Nothing Can Ever Be The Same (2023), a 168-hour generative video installation built around the work of Brian Eno and shown at the Venice Biennale. He also made the Altarpiece series on AI and religion, A Strange Intimacy (2024) on identity in the age of AI, and In Harmony; The Five Boroughs (2024), digital sculptures based on New York population density. The Passengers series turns airport passenger data from the pandemic into physical and digital pieces. He has released work on KnownOrigin, Nifty Gateway, MakersPlace, Foundation and SuperRare, and his work was included in a curated NFT sale at Sotheby's. He is an alumnus of the Lumen Prize and the Aesthetica Art Prize. Gazelli Art House represents him, and his solo show Put the Kettle On is at the gallery in New York from 23 September to 31 October 2026. For collectors, he is an artist who has worked with code for more than two decades and moved from museum collections to on-chain releases.
