Biography

CROSSLUCID is a Berlin-based artist collective working at the intersection of poetic artificial intelligence, filmmaking, and experiential formats to prototype emergent futures. The duo first began incorporating AI into their process in 2020 while developing their ongoing feature-length project 'Translucid,' a docu-sci-fi film conceived in collaboration with advanced AI systems and structured around a non-linear, dreamlike narrative akin to lucid dreaming. Their broader practice uses generative and machine learning systems not simply as tools but as creative collaborators, producing AI-generated works that explore questions of identity, sexuality, gender, and how emerging technologies reshape human perception and relationships. Notable projects include 'Vaster than Empires,' created for the Berggruen Institute, in which the collective built a bespoke generative AI system to interpret themes from Ursula K. Le Guin's science fiction writing, and live audiovisual performances that transform real-time oceanic data through a self-evolving AI ecosystem. CROSSLUCID has been interviewed and featured extensively across digital art and technology publications, including GATA Magazine, Right Click Save, EXPANDED.ART, and YMT Magazine, discussing their views on AI, blockchain, and the future of collaborative art-making. Their work spans traditional exhibition contexts as well as blockchain-based platforms, including the 'Landscapes Genesis' collection released on OpenSea. Through their multidisciplinary, research-driven practice, CROSSLUCID positions itself at the forefront of conversations about what art created in genuine collaboration with artificial intelligence can look like, both aesthetically and conceptually.
