Biography

Daniel H. Rey is a Paraguayan-Colombian curator, editor, and cultural programmer whose work bridges contemporary art scenes across Latin America, the Arab world, and beyond. Raised between Paraguay and Europe, Rey studied Theater at NYU Abu Dhabi, graduating in 2020, before beginning a career as an independent curator advocating for youth-led curation and cross-pollination across the Global South. He served as part of the inaugural Art Jameel Youth Assembly and later as assistant curator at Jameel Arts Centre in Dubai, where he curated and facilitated year-long learning programs connecting young curators with contemporary art practice. Rey has since built a curatorial practice spanning Madrid, Oslo, and Dubai, studying the formation of art and design across Spanish-, Arabic-, and Scandinavian-language contexts. He currently serves as Curator of Programs and Networks at the Institute for Postnatural Studies, where he develops programming exploring ecological urgency and alternative ways of relating to nature and technology. Rey has curated exhibitions such as 'Almacén المخزن Armazém,' reflecting his ongoing interest in translation and dialogue between cultures that are rarely placed in direct conversation, particularly Latin American and Arab artistic traditions. He has spoken at international platforms including the Venice Biennale and has been featured on 100 Collectors' Unlocked podcast discussing his work as a storyteller moving fluidly between these distinct cultural and geographic worlds.
