A French visual artist and curator using photography and digital media to create eco-fictional landscapes that nudge toward eco-empathy.
Diane Drubay is a French visual artist, curator, and strategist based in Paris whose work spans photography, video art, and multimedia installation to imagine alternative, eco-fictional realities. Drawing inspiration from social science fiction literature, her practice constructs optimistic, speculative landscapes designed to nudge viewers toward eco-empathy and a renewed emotional connection with the natural world. Drubay often explores the psychoactive and transcendental potential of color and landscape construction, using these tools to awaken emotion, sensation, and ecological awareness in her audiences. Beyond her personal art practice, Drubay has spent since 2007 transforming the global museum and arts sector as a pioneering strategist and curator, founding We Are Museums, an international network and conference dedicated to innovation in museums, as well as Buzzeum, an early digital museum consultancy based in Paris. She later founded Blueshift, a gallery and curatorial platform focused on new ecologies and digital art, reflecting her ongoing commitment to bridging environmental themes with emerging technology. Her artwork has been featured by platforms and institutions including theVERSEverse, Niio Art, and Fish Factory Creative Centre in Iceland, and she has spoken and consulted for major cultural institutions such as the Musée d'Orsay. Across both her curatorial and artistic careers, Drubay continues to advocate for art's role in addressing the ecological and technological challenges of the present, treating digital and photographic media as tools for reimagining humanity's relationship with nature.
