Biography

Efdot, born Eric Friedensohn, is a colorblind visual artist, muralist, and designer based in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Despite being clinically colorblind, or perhaps informed by it, he has developed a signature style built on vivid, high-contrast, emotionally resonant color palettes that convey moods, moments, and the passage of time through playful, meditative compositions. His work bridges street art, fine art, illustration, and Web3, spanning murals, painting, print, animation, and sculpture, often featuring whimsical recurring characters such as his 'Blobs.' After losing his belongings in a fire, Friedensohn channeled that experience of loss and resilience into the Optimist Project, a community-driven public art initiative reflecting his broader ethos of turning hardship into shared creative energy. He entered the NFT space with his debut 1/1 animated collection 'Open Minds' in 2021, exploring themes of mental expansion and spontaneous connection, and followed it with projects including Blob Cards, which link his physical and digital creative ecosystems, and generative collaborative releases such as 'Elements' and 'GLiFS' on platforms like Art Blocks and Transient Labs. Efdot has created lettering, illustration, and mural work for major companies and brands, and has been featured by outlets including nft now, Rarible, and various design and creative podcasts discussing his journey from street art and design school into digital collectibles.
