Artist Directory

New York-born, Amsterdam and NYC-based artist (b. 1991) working across CG animation and sculptural installation, known for repurposing decommissioned NYC taxi-top ad displays into works with an imagined inner life.
Jessica Wilson is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice treats everyday infrastructure, from anthropomorphized electrical outlets to decommissioned NYC taxi tops, as a surrogate for psychological states of neurosis and anxiety. Her work moves computer-generated animation and sculptural installation away from hyperreal spectacle and toward an awkward, haptic sensitivity to human inexactitude, holding a tension between documenting technical processes and charging them with emotion. For In Practice at SculptureCenter (one of six artists selected for the 2027 program), she worked with salvaged LED taxi tops from New York City cabs, reviving the last ads they displayed as ghostly echoes alongside new animations suggesting the machines' inner turmoil, like a cartoonish live MRI of a system processing and transmitting. She has shown at diez gallery, Amsterdam; Petrine, Paris; and will present a solo booth with diez gallery at Frieze London. She was named among the Frieze London 2026 next-generation artists to watch, and recently completed an Open Studios residency at the Rijksakademie, Amsterdam.
