A Saudi Arabian pixel artist based in Riyadh known for atmospheric digital landscapes and environments.
Khaled Makhshoush, known as KLDPXL, is a Saudi Arabian digital artist based in Riyadh who specializes in atmospheric pixel art focused on environments and landscapes. Rather than pursuing formal art training, Makhshoush originally studied physics and astronomy, and his scientific curiosity about the universe still informs the way he observes and renders space, light, and atmosphere in his work. Since beginning his pixel art practice in 2016, he has built richly layered digital environments that sit between the familiar and the abstract, capturing the mood of contemporary places ranging from quiet forests to sprawling industrial refineries. His work translates the emotional texture of both natural and human-made landscapes into deliberately low-resolution, nostalgic imagery, using the constraints of the pixel medium to evoke memory and atmosphere rather than photographic detail. Makhshoush has exhibited his work in physical installation form, including a piece composed of one hundred small OLED screens displaying dozens of his hand-drawn pixel artworks. Recognized as one of the leading digital artists to emerge from Saudi Arabia's growing new media art scene, he continues to expand his practice into narrative and interactive digital projects while remaining rooted in the pixel art aesthetic that first defined his career.
