Digital art, light art, immersive installation, NFT art

Biography

Krista Kim is a Canadian-Korean contemporary artist and the founder of Techism, a cultural movement she launched in 2014 that explores digital consciousness and the meeting point of light, color, and meditative experience. Working across digital art, design, and emerging technologies, Kim treats digital media as a tool for cultivating mindfulness, using color fields, light, and immersive digital environments to create meditative states for viewers rather than purely representational imagery. She studied political science and government at the University of Toronto before pursuing an artistic career that would eventually position her at the forefront of digital and NFT art. Kim gained widespread international attention for "Mars House," widely regarded as one of the first fully digital houses ever sold as an NFT, a project that helped popularize the idea of habitable, purely virtual architecture as an art form. Her multidisciplinary practice operates at what she describes as the ontological threshold between digital consciousness and physical reality, often incorporating sound and light installations alongside screen-based work. Kim has served as Vogue Singapore's metaverse editor and continues to explore how technology, including artificial intelligence, can be directed toward healing and mental well-being rather than distraction. Her work has been exhibited internationally and discussed extensively in art and technology press for its blending of spiritual inquiry with cutting-edge digital tools, cementing her reputation as an entrepreneurial pioneer in the digital art space.
