Biography

Lars Wander is a computer artist and programmer originally from Germany, now based in New York City, whose visual work reflects a deep fascination with perception, generative patterns, and computational systems. He has been writing programs exploring generative art for more than a decade, drawn to the complexity that emerges from carefully constructed algorithmic rules, though he only began sharing his creations publicly in 2020. Before dedicating himself fully to art, Wander worked as an engineer at Google, where he developed visualization software to help engineers understand the dynamics of global-scale storage systems, and his scientific research on these systems has been published in journals including IEEE publications. That technical background continues to inform his artistic practice, which merges rigorous computation with an intuitive sense of visual perception, often producing work that investigates how the eye and mind interpret pattern, color, and motion. Wander's multidisciplinary interests extend beyond visual art into music, and he uses his programming skills across all of these pursuits to push the boundaries of what generative systems can express. He is currently represented by ARTXCODE, and his work has been featured on platforms and publications including Art Blocks, Verse, and The Generative Art Museum. Wander continues to explore the intersection of computation and perception, treating code not merely as a tool but as a primary creative medium in its own right.
