Artist Directory

New York-based artist duo working since the early 2000s across video, analog synthesizers, installation, net art, stained glass and generative art.
LoVid is an artist duo made up of Tali Hinkis and Kyle Lapidus, based in New York. They started in the early 2000s as a noise music and live video band, building their own analog audio and video instruments. Their first synthesizer, Sync Armonica, was built during a 2005 residency at Eyebeam. Since then they have worked in video, installation, performance, net art, fabric, stained glass and generative art, and they now move between physical and digital media in the studio. Other works include VideoWear, More of The Same, Huggez-Vous, a 2022 animation made for a site in Chicago, and Hyperbolic, a 2022 stained glass piece. During the early pandemic they made Hugs on Tape, a series released as NFTs, videos and fabric works. Their generative work Tide Predictor is part of the Art Blocks Curated collection, so collectors can find them on-chain as well as in museums. Their work has been shown at MoMA, the New Museum, The Kitchen, the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London and the Netherlands Media Art Institute. It is held in collections including the Whitney Museum, the Museum of the Moving Image and the Belvedere's Ursula Blickle Video Archive. Their funders include the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, Eyebeam and Rhizome. For collectors, LoVid is a long-running example of an artist practice that began with analog video and followed the medium into generative and on-chain work.
