Biography

Micah Dowbak, known professionally as Mad Dog Jones, is a Canadian multidisciplinary artist born in 1985 from Thunder Bay, Ontario, where he continues to reside. Beginning as a painter and graffiti artist, Dowbak developed a distinctive visual language that interweaves cyberpunk and dystopian imagery with the neon-lit, rain-slicked aesthetics of science-fiction cityscapes, often blending photography, illustration, and digital manipulation into dense, atmospheric compositions. His breakthrough into the digital art and NFT space came with "REPLICATOR," a groundbreaking multi-generational NFT auctioned through Phillips in 2021, which programmatically produced new, unique offspring artworks over time, pushing the technical boundaries of what a single NFT could do. Jones has also collaborated with prominent figures in music and entertainment, including releasing NFT art collections alongside electronic musician Deadmau5. His work has been exhibited and sold alongside major contemporary and pop-surrealist artists such as Keiichi Tanaami, James Jean, Ilya Kuvshinov, Yayoi Kusama, and Lee Ufan, reflecting his rising stature within both traditional and digital art markets. Rooted in music culture as well, Jones has worked extensively with his collaborative music project SIDEWAYS, reflecting a career that has always moved fluidly between visual art, sound, and technology.
