A pioneering Lagos-based digital artist known as the first crypto artist out of Africa, exploring identity and culture through NFT art.
Osinachi (born October 24, 1991) is a Nigerian digital artist based in Lagos, widely recognized as the first crypto artist to emerge from Africa. Working with unconventional software long before turning to blockchain platforms, he developed a distinctive, layered visual language over more than fifteen years of practice, built from patterned textiles, religious iconography, and scenes of everyday Nigerian life. Since entering the NFT space around 2020, he has used his art to explore deeply personal experiences, including faith, identity, and mental health, opening up broader conversations about how digital art can speak to shared humanity across cultures. His growing international profile led to a landmark collaboration with Christie's Europe and the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, through which he auctioned a series of unique NFTs in Europe, the first time the auction house had presented NFT works on the continent and the first NFT exhibition at the fair. The milestone made Osinachi the first African artist to achieve recognition at that scale within the traditional auction world, helping open doors for a new generation of African digital creators. More recently, Osinachi launched Across the Face, a widely successful profile-picture and avatar collection that marked the first collaborative project spanning two separate NFT platforms. He continues to mint work under several on-chain identities, including realosinachi.eth, and remains an outspoken advocate for expanding access to the NFT space for African artists.
