The Wild Within (Ryan Koopmans & Alice Wexell)

Biography

Ryan Koopmans and Alice Wexell make The Wild Within, a long term project that begins with photographs and 3D scans of abandoned architectural spaces around the world. They add digitally sculpted foliage, changing light and subtle movement, presenting the ruins as places of transformation and renewal. They also made The Enchanted Hour, a dynamic digital artwork that responds to the time of day. The project is shown as archival pigment prints, looping motion works and a series of hand cut glass mosaic wall sculptures that reinterpret Soviet era floral postcards found in an abandoned post office in Georgia. Their first solo exhibition in New York was at Leila Heller Gallery, 10 September to 22 October 2026.
