Biography

untitled, xyz is the studio and online presence of Kirk Finkel, an artist and architect based in New York. His practice explores virtual architecture through modular design concepts and agentic and generative AI, with a focus on immersive digital art experiences. He describes the work as art plus architecture. Finkel earned a BArch at Cornell in 2011 and an MSAUD at Columbia in 2014. He worked as an urban designer, co-founded the Sndbox incubator and the art collective Hither Yon, and is now Director of Architecture at the Museum of Crypto Art (MOCA), where he has built virtual spaces for the museum. His website is organized as a set of rooms and project series, including un_MUSEUMs, MODs, RARE, GENESIS, SPOLIA, TEMPLATES and FORM FARM. His exhibitions include DYOR at Kunsthalle Zurich in 2023, PROJECTIONS at Galerie Charlot in Paris in 2024 and CITY EDGES at Eterno Gallery in Lisbon in 2025. He was featured in Taschen's On NFTs: The Hard Code Edition in 2024 and wrote an essay for Architectural Design in 2023. In 2021, The Defiant profiled him as a crypto architect who explains the visual language of metaverse architecture. For collectors, untitled, xyz is a long-running example of architecture treated as an art form on-chain, with spaces and modular pieces that can be collected and explored.
