Nov 2026

On Friday, October 23, 100 collectors brought members and their friends together at OTHERSIDE in Marfa, Texas, for an hour of drinks, art, and conversation. The gathering, which we called the Marfa Moment, was small by design: a relaxed early evening for digital art collectors to meet in person, catch up over a drink, and talk about what they collect and why.

‍

A Gathering Hosted by a Member

The evening was hosted by Stephen McKeon, a 100 collectors member, owner of OTHERSIDE and co-founder of Glitch Marfa. Hosting in a member’s own space set the tone. Rather than a formal presentation, it felt like being welcomed into a collector’s home base, with drinks in hand and the conversation moving easily between the works on screen, Marfa, and the wider digital art community.

Guests arrived through the patio next to Glitch Gallery at 110 E. El Paso Street, following a trail of red lights to the entrance.

Why Marfa

Marfa has become one of the few places where generative art has a physical home. Art Blocks first invited its community to the town in 2021, the same year it opened a physical gallery near the main street, and both Art Blocks and Glitch Gallery have kept physical spaces in Marfa, drawn in part by the town’s history of artistic experimentation shaped by Donald Judd. Glitch itself was founded in 2022 as an analog space for digital objects, sitting between Marfa and the internet.

The town’s remoteness also shapes how people experience it. Getting there takes effort, and those who make the trip tend to arrive ready to slow down, look closely, and talk. That pace suited an evening built around drinks and conversation between collectors.

‍

Works from Members’ Collections on Display

Ahead of the event, members were invited to submit generative artworks from their own collections. The selection was shown on screen throughout the hour, creating a collective exhibition drawn entirely from what our members live with.

Seeing works chosen by different collectors side by side opened up the kind of exchange that rarely happens online. Over drinks, members shared how they first came across a piece, what drew them to a particular artist or algorithm, and how a work has held up over time. For some, it was a chance to discover artists they had not yet encountered; for others, a chance to see familiar works through another collector’s eyes.

From OTHERSIDE to Glitch Gallery

As the hour came to a close, the group moved through the back door of OTHERSIDE directly into Glitch Gallery for the opening of its new exhibition at 7 PM. The passage from one space to the other made a natural bridge between private collections and a public exhibition, and many members carried their conversations into the gallery and on through the evening.

‍

Shared Discovery in Person

100 collectors is the global network for digital art collectors, and gatherings like the Marfa Moment are where that network becomes tangible. Collecting digital and generative art is often a solitary activity carried out on screens. Meeting in person, over drinks and around works that members have chosen and lived with, turns it into shared discovery.

‍

Thank you to Stephen McKeon for welcoming us at OTHERSIDE and to every member who submitted a work from their collection.
