Bård Ionson is a Virginia-based digital artist and one of the earliest pioneers of crypto and generative art, having created art since 2012 and minted his first blockchain work in 2018. His practice centers on the in-between: the uncertain territory that exists between sound and light, digital and analog, physical and spiritual, true and false. Rather than treating these pairs as opposites, Ionson uses generative systems, artificial intelligence, and even oscilloscope-driven imagery to visualize the threshold states that connect them, exposing the subtle distortions that separate one reality from another.
