AI artist exploring vulnerability, trauma, and transhumanism, whose work entered LACMA's permanent collection.

AI Art, Digital Art, Post-Photography

Biography

Claire Silver is a digital artist known for a distinctive, deeply personal approach to creating art with artificial intelligence, describing her practice as post-photography: AI used as both tool and collaborator to explore vulnerability, trauma, the body, and what survives the transition into digital life. Trained in art history and marketing, she began her career as a traditional artist before moving into generative media and AI tools, and was among the earliest artists to work seriously with DALL-E, arguing early on that AI-collaborative art could carry genuine emotional and personal weight rather than functioning as novelty or spectacle. Her work explores themes of vulnerability, trauma, disability, social hierarchy, innocence, and divinity, using these subjects to prompt reflection on their place within an increasingly transhumanist future. Silver has described herself as a "caveman painting fire," a framing that emphasizes the innate human longing for transcendence even as the tools of creation are transformed by new technology, and she advocates for carrying that longing forward rather than abandoning it. Her practice has achieved significant institutional recognition: her first DALL-E 2 work on SuperRare sold for 52.69 ETH, her work was included in a Sotheby's contemporary art day auction, and her art subsequently entered the permanent collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. She has also exhibited at Art Basel and continues to be one of the most visible and outspoken voices advocating for AI as a legitimate medium for serious, emotionally resonant contemporary art.
