Experimental research platform producing AI-driven video and photographic works exploring virality and human experience.
Fakewhale Studio is an experimental research platform founded by Fakewhale in 2024, exploring the intersections of artificial intelligence, photography, and digital documentation. Positioned as the company's internal creative and technological arm, the studio develops and supports Fakewhale's broader visual ecosystem while producing its own bodies of work that treat AI tools not simply as production aids but as subjects of inquiry in themselves. Its recent VIRAL INTENSITY series exemplifies this approach, presenting a collection of digital works that treats virality itself as an artistic medium, examining how circulation, repetition, and algorithmic amplification produce and distort images in the contemporary attention economy. At Art Dubai Special Edition 2026, presented within Foundry's booth, Fakewhale Studio showed two video works, Hide and Seek and Ritual, both exploring AI-generated representations of human experience and probing what happens when systems trained on human data attempt to depict human presence, emotion, and behavior. The studio's practice sits within a broader curatorial context concerned with nature, dialogue, algorithm, and time, alongside artists including Nation 2.0 and Scerbo. Fakewhale Studio continues Fakewhale's long-running engagement with digital art criticism and production through its ongoing editorial platform, Fakewhale LOG.
