Biography

Harvey Rayner, working under the name patterndotco, describes himself as a code artist and a purveyor of imperfection and accidental beauty, with a stated love of computational patina. His practice uses custom-written algorithms to generate abstract compositions in which color, form, and texture function as carriers of emotional states rather than purely formal elements, situating his work between painting traditions and computational systems. Across bodies of work including Photon's Dream, Reticulum, Fontana, Velum, and marfaMESH, Rayner has developed a distinctive visual language built from generative noise, waveform artifacts, and glitch-inflected texture, treating imperfection not as an error to be corrected but as a primary aesthetic resource.
