Michiko Tsuda

Biography

Michiko Tsuda is a Japanese artist whose practice has grown from performance and video into immersive spatial installations. Her works frequently combine mirrors, video cameras, suspended frames, and text pieces to explore perception as both a spatial and psychological condition, examining how we see, how we appear to others, and how technology reshapes that relationship. A recurring device in her work is filming a single subject from two distinct perspectives simultaneously, creating a dissonance between the two views that becomes the actual substance of the piece: theatrical, spatially disorienting, and deeply attentive to presence. At Art Dubai Special Edition 2026, presented by Dom Art Projects, Tsuda showed a new video installation exploring time, perception, and the shifting boundary between observer and observed, continuing her long-standing interest in treating physical space as a field for experimentation and archiving. Her installations often invite viewers into an encounter with their own reflection or image, implying an invisible presence that wavers in response to the viewer's own movement and attention. Tsuda has exhibited internationally, including presentations at MEET YOUR ART FESTIVAL, and her work is held in ongoing dialogue with questions of media, memory, and how digital and optical technologies mediate our sense of self.
