Biography

Ouchhh is a multidisciplinary new-media studio founded by Ferdi Alici, recognized as a pioneer of data-driven art including data paintings, data sculptures, and large-scale public art installations. Originally established in Istanbul before expanding internationally with a base in Los Angeles, the studio has spent more than a decade merging art, science, and technology, translating scientific and cultural datasets, from NASA space data to historical archives, into immersive visual and audio experiences. Ouchhh became known for using artificial intelligence and machine-learning systems as creative collaborators, treating algorithms as a kind of brush and data as paint. The studio's in-house team includes AI artists, engineers, and creative coders working across projections, sculpture, and generative software. Among its landmark works is DATAGATE, described as the world's first AI-driven NASA data sculpture, as well as the AI Data Monolith series, illuminated sculptures presenting scientific and historical datasets as sublime, monumental forms. Ouchhh has also created immersive experiences examining artificial intelligence's relationship to classical art and poetry, reimagining historical and cultural archives through generative visuals, and has collaborated with global brands and cultural institutions on data-driven public art. Led creatively by figures including founder Ferdi Alici and creative director Eylul Duranagac, the studio continues to push into new territory with projects using facial-recognition and real-time biometric data to generate living, responsive artworks. Ouchhh's work has been exhibited internationally in museums, festivals, and public spaces, and the studio remains one of the most recognized names at the intersection of artificial intelligence, data visualization, and large-scale public art.
