Lorna Mills

“Lorna Mills is one artist that I would absolutely recommend if you're not familiar with her work. She’s one of the most incredible people I've ever met — her energy is unreal. What I love is how she highlights the underbelly of the internet in a bold, fearless way. She’s a trip, the kind of person who will tell you exactly how it is, and I adore that. Her work may seem in-your-face or crass at first, but she’s really holding up a mirror to parts of the human psyche and to things that exist online that she’s unearthed.”

ABOUT

Lorna Mills is a Canadian net art and new media artist who is known for her digital animations, videos, and GIFs. Mills has done work in other media, such as installations. Mills is self-taught in programming and video editing. She has actively exhibited her work in both solo and group exhibitions since the early 1990's, both in Canada and internationally. Her practice has included obsessive Ilfochrome printing, obsessive painting, obsessive Super 8 film & video, and obsessive on-line animated GIFs incorporated into restrained off-line installation work. Her work explores how "the notion of public decency is anachronistic“. Her work explorers consumption, representation, accelerationism, and nationalism through an engagement with internet culture and the dark net.
