Yehwan Song

"Then, I am going to jump to the show I am curating now, "Screensavers". I will be honest with you, it was born out of a tweet I wrote three months ago out of Jerry Salz making fun of all artists, and so I asked twitter who wanted to be part of my show. I received hundreds of messages. [...]

What is the role of the screensaver nowadays? How have we moved passed that? Screensavers in general are the most widespread use of digital art, because every single person who has a computer probably experiences a screensaver.

One of the artists I came across was Yehwan Song. She is a Korean artist that has been only once exhibited in the digital space. I discovered her through Instagram, where she has been sharing these incredible installations [...] She specialises in creating systems of her own creating interactive websites, but also creating these physical compositions that speak to the wider piece, and together it's an ensemble of the concept she is communicating.

She is creating a piece for our exhibition - and this is a spoiler - the piece is called "Save me." It is an incredibly beautiful piece.

She represented Korea at the Venice Biennale; she has done many shows in physical galleries. So I am very excited to bring her forward to the space."
